I know that I said that this blog was going to be about Adult ADD, but from time to time I need a place to ramble, so instead of driving my wife nuts (and besides she never listens to me when I ramble) I use this forum. You are free to leave now if you so choose to!
I currently find myself under-employed. Let me explain. I work part time at a radio station running the Nascar races. If you aren't familiar with Nascar....it only goes until November. It will start up again in April...so I will have part time work again at that time.
My full time job ended in November. I was working for a film company as a business development manager. The job seemed great and the added bonus was that I was working out of my house. It enabled me to drop off my son at school (he goes to a private school) get home and start my day with NO commute. I was working hard building leads for the company and getting the pipeline set up for future business. There was only one problem.
My boss had this thing about not getting me my check on time. Once he told me that I would have to wait until the money came in until I could cash it. I told him that I had a mortgage to pay and that he better transfer some money out of his personal account to cover my check...which he did.
So, needless to say, the job didnt work out (gee...I wonder why??) So now I am looking for work again. Which leads to my question (I know, it took me a long time to get here...remember, I'm ADD!)
Where are all the good jobs??? I can't seem to find them. Maybe it's the field I chose to work in. I have my degree (only my associates....I am working on the BA) in Business and Marketing. I live in New Hampshire and the only thing I can find when I search for "marketing" in TELEMARKETIMG....NOT the same thing. I've tried: Craig's List, Monster, Jobsinnh.com and numerous others when I google search....so far, not much.
Does anyone know of any other search engines that I can look under? I am running out of options. I do have a few interviews lined up with placement agencies, but there aren't promising me anything concrete. I have also been networking with friends, but they don't seem to know of anyone who is hiring. I am leary of temp agencies because of some bad experiences with a couple of them (it seems to me that all they want is to pad their resume files so that when a job does come up, they have numerous people to call.)
I really can't afford to go to a temp agency, sit there and take a test, talk to a representative and then be told; "When something comes up...we'll call you." Um...hello? I came here because you had an online ad describing a job that I am qualified for. Where is that job? Which they usually tell me, "Oh, that job was filled today." It seems to me that some temp agencies are doing the old "bait and switch."
Well....I've rambled enough. Is anyone still there? ;) So, if you can help me with some good advice I would be most appreciative. I trust that God has a job for me and that if I am diligent and let him guide me to it....I will find it.
Thanks for letting me vent :)
Blessings,
D
